“ICF defines mentor coaching as a collaborative process where coaches receive feedback based on observed sessions to refine their skills and style in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies”.
Mentor Coaching focuses on the development of your coaching skills — not on practice building, life balance, or unrelated topics.
Mentor coaches have their own set of competencies to help guide their work with you, so you can ensure that the experience is grounded in evidence-based practice.
Process and Preparation
Mentor Coaching sessions are a safe, collaborative, and non-judgemental space for reflection and professional growth. Together, we observe, discuss, and provide feedback in relation to the ICF Core Competencies and the
PCC Minimum Skill Requirements /Markers along with
ACC Minimum Skill Requirements
MCC Minimum Skill Requirements
as required.
You are encouraged to:
-
Review your recorded coaching session in advance, identifying:
-
strengths (competencies demonstrated),
-
stretches (areas for development),
-
and any questions or reflections you wish to bring to mentor coaching.
-
Retain full control of your recording by uploading your session to Raenotes and sharing a Raenotes access link with me.
This approach allows you to revoke my access at any time once the mentor coaching purpose has been fulfilled.
-
Maintain custody and ownership of all recordings at all times.
No downloadable audio or video files are shared with me in advance, supporting both your professional boundaries and your clients’ confidentiality.
-
If you choose not to use Raenotes, you may instead:
-
send anonymised written transcripts in advance, and
-
share short excerpts of the recording live during our mentor coaching session, as appropriate.
-
I recommend the use of AI-supported assessment tools within Raenotes to support your own self-assessment of the session against the relevant Minimum Skill Requirements.
These tools are intended to support reflection and preparation, and to help you identify potential focus areas and topics for our mentor coaching conversation.
Learning Resources
You are encouraged to review and use:
Self-review against the relevant ICF Credential Performance Evaluation Markers/BARS is one of the most effective ways to strengthen competency.
