Support for Coaching Professionals - Choosing Your Super-Vision Partner: 10 Questions to Ask

Before committing to a Super-Vision partnership, it’s wise to explore fit, philosophy, and professionalism. Below, you’ll find ten thoughtful questions to help you choose the right partner—plus my responses to support your decision-making process.

1. What motivates you to work as a Super-Vision Partner?

Rachel’s Answer:
I’m motivated by a deep belief in lifelong learning, ethical practice, and whole-person wellbeing. With decades of experience in healthcare, coaching, and leadership, I understand the value of a confidential thinking space. My role is to support you to pause, reflect, and rise—so you can serve with clarity, energy, and impact.

2. What is your supervision style and approach?

Rachel’s Answer:
Collaborative, systemic, and psychologically safe. I bring structure, warmth, and rigour—tailored to your learning goals. I integrate three key dimensions:

  • Formative (skills)

  • Normative (ethics)

  • Restorative (wellbeing)

Whether working 1:1 or in group settings, we explore real-world situations and patterns with curiosity and compassion.

My approach is integrative. I draw from:

  • Adult Learning Theory

  • Positive Psychology & Growth Mindset

  • Systems Thinking

  • Transactional Analysis & the Drama Triangle

  • Supervision Models such as Hawkins’ Seven-Eyed Model, Johari Window, and PQ Mental Fitness

This gives us a flexible, robust toolkit for real, lasting change.
