I have complimentary membership of the Medical Coaching Learning Community (MCLC).  How can I use my MCLC Membership for my CPD?

CLICK HERE for more information about the Medical Coaching Learning Community (MCLC)

After each live session, you will complete the Medical Coaching Learning Community Topic Evaluation and click save and send to coach.

By completing this within 48 hours of live attendance, you will receive Continuing Coach Education Units (CCEUs) from the ICF.  This counts as "accredited learning" for the purposes of CPD.

You will notice that the Stages of the IIOP CPD cycle mirror the Topic Evaluation form provided for this programme, so you can copy and paste the same content submitted for your CCEUs into your ePortfolio to log your learning as a CPD cycle.

As a 12-Month LEAD Mastermind Member, you will find further details on the MCLC Resource Pages.

How is the subject matter of MCLC Sessions Relevant to Pharmacists?

Let me give you an example.

The next session will be held on Wed 30th November 2016.  Dr Don Eisenhauer PCC will cover the topic of "Using the Coach Approach with the Grieving and the Dying".

Interacting with grieving and dying patients is a part of pharmacy practice for which most of us have no formal training.  Yet supporting patients to process loss is a vital part of the work we do.  We provide palliative care medicines to carers and patients.  We are often the first healthcare professional to meet a patient following their medical diagnosis.  Patients and their loved ones are grappling to come to terms with their loss.  How can we support them best?

Dr Eisenhauer shares his experience gained as an End of Life Coach and Hospital Chaplain in Pennsylvania USA and also as an international coach trainer.

When will I receive my Accreditation Certificate?

At the end of your 12-month membership, you will receive a certificate from 4Front with

  • the name of the topics you attended (live and recorded)
  • dates of live sessions
  • number of hours of Core Competency CCEU
  • number of hours of Resource Development CCEU

If you need your certificate before this for the purpose of ICF Credential Application/Renewal or ePortfolio Review, please request this in MY LOG section of your online resources and Rachel will liaise with you to meet your needs.

How do I Ask a Question if I cannot Attend Live?

If you cannot attend a session live, you are encouraged to review the Online Course Material before each session.

If you identify questions you would like to ask to meet your learning need, please post them 24 hours in advance in the "My Log" section with the Topic Title and Questions for the Facilitator.

List the questions you would like to pose, and Rachel endeavour to address them during the session.  Alternatively, you could connect with your LEAD Programme buddy / colleague and arrange for them to pose the question on your behalf.   Either way, you will be able to listen to the response on the recording.

Will there be audio recordings of the session in case I can’t attend the live trainings?

Yes, absolutely! All of the sessions will be recorded, and made accessible to you in your private client membership area.

Could I see the Online Resources before I make a Final Decision?

Yes. CLICK HERE for an "over the shoulder" guided tour of the Online Resources available to you as a member of the LEAD Online Mastermind Programme and some tips on how to optimise your resources.

Does the L.E.A.D. Online Programme Count as CPD?

Yes absolutely.  It is currently structured non-clinical CPD, mapped to the PSI Core Competency Framework and the International Coaching Federation Core Competency Framework for Coaches.   The whole programme is currently going through accreditation with the International Coaching Federation (ICF).  Rachel is an IIOP peer support pharmacist and has participated in the IIOP ePortfolio Practice Review Pilot and is ideally placed to support your CPD.

  • Completion of the Activity Booklet helps you to create the content for the first four stages of your CPD cycle during the first  masterclass.
  • The Implementation Mastery Class enables you to evaluate the impact on your practice, which is the fifth and final stage of your CPD cycle.

I do a lot of clinical CPD already.  Isn't that enough?

It depends!  There are a number of programmes which offer high quality clinical content.h  Whether this counts as CPD depends on whether you have recorded what you have learned and HOW you have implemented that into your pharmacy practice.

HOWEVER, many pharmacists do not realise that 4 of the 6 domains of the CORE competency framework for pharmacists are NON-clinical. Therefore it is CORE to our professional competency that we also DEMONSTRATE that we have engaged in CPD in the NON-clinical areas of Personal Skills, Organisation and Management Skills, Professional Practice and Health Promotion.

Up until now there has been very little focus on personal development options, especially options that specifically understand the context of for the FOUR non-clinical domains of the core competency framework.  The LEAD Online Programme is created as the most comprehensive pharmacy specific option to support your engagement with non-clinical CPD.

I have attended the LEAD Alignment Module and/or LEAD Personal Leadership Module.  Will there be new material in this programme?

Yes! This is a full immersion specifically designed to cater to the needs of pharmacists who are striving for excellence. Each Module of the LEAD Programme is designed to be independent and complementary.  The insights, tools and content covered in the LEAD Alignment and LEAD Personal Leadership are primarily focused on intra-personal skills which provide a strong foundation for your engagement in the LEAD Engagement Module, which focuses primarily on inter-personal skills.  Expect experiential, practical exercises that you can immediately implement with your customers and colleagues, direct access to Rachel during the live trainings and Q&A implementation sessions, access to an interactive community of coaches and healthcare professionals from all across the globe in the Medical Coaching Learning Community and one-to-one coaching session with Rachel once per month. So if you have already benefited from the LEAD Alignment and/or Personal Leadership Modules and gained value from it, this module will absolutely be a game-changer and go much, much deeper into using your learning to have a positive impact on others.

I don't have time.

The total time investment is just 5-6 hours per month for 4 months.  This includes completing your CPD (which you have a legal obligation to find time for anyway), as well as all the time-saving benefits you stand to gain by becoming clearer, more focused and more effective at managing your self and your time.

Remember, time passes by anyway.  The question is, "Is how you choose to spend your time helping you to achieve your goals, serve your patients even better and reach your potential?"  If yes, acknowledge yourself for your self-management skill in this area.  If not, ask yourself what you need to do differently to get a different result? Can you afford NOT to invest 4 hours per month in yourself?

in addition to the scheduled calls, to get the most value, we recommend scheduling an additional 30 mins per week to fully immerse yourself in the content, implement with your customers and colleagues and write up a CPD cycle.  The more time each week you dedicate to using this material to engage with others, the quicker you will master the techniques.

To fast-track your progress and results, one-to-one coaching is provided in addition to the group programme.

It sounds great but I can't afford it.

We all have limits on our financial resources.  We also all find ways to afford what is most important to us.  So the question isn't really "Can I afford this?"  A better question is "How much of a priority am I placing on me in my own life?" "How much am I  willing to invest in me to achieve the career / life / promotion / health I desire?"

For example, if you were to invest €1500 in your personal and professional this year, this works out at less than

  • €29 per week
  • 1 hour of locum work per week (at 29 Euro per hour)
  • 70 cent per hour (based on 40 hour week)
  • 3 x carvery dinners per week
  • 8 x Starbucks coffees per week

If you were to analyse where you are spending your money at present, and use it instead to invest in your own personal and professional development, what could be your return on investment?

Can you guarantee me that if I invest, the LEAD programme will work for me?

No!  However, you can be guaranteed that if you don't try it, you will never know.

Another guarantee?   This programme is designed to support you to IMPLEMENT your learning into your personal and professional life.  If you choose not to invest the 4 hours per month in preparing, engaging and implementing your action plan, it is guaranteed that you will not achieve the results you seek.

The L.E.A.D. Programme will provide you with the content, structure, framework, guidance and support to provide you with the optimal conditions to enable you to achieve your goals.
